Our Yoga Glasgow Classes
-
With Yoga at the heart of our practice, we intertwine various traditions and styles with our teachers' unique approaches to create a more comprehensive experience. We wholeheartedly encourage our teachers to explore, inspire, and share their personalities and experiences through the practice of Yoga.
We highly recommend reading their bios to discover the specific styles and approaches they offer. You can find their bios and learn about their unique styles here.
These slower-paced classes are suitable for all levels and are an ideal starting point for those new to Yoga.

Strong, creative, and dynamic. This class is designed to help you build power and strength as you explore a range of poses and experiment with fun and inspiring transitions. It will include prāṇāyāma, mantra, āsana, and meditation.
Please note that this class is not suitable for complete beginners or those new to yoga. We recommend enjoying a few Yoga classes before trying a Vinyasa class.

Yin Yoga is a slower style that focuses on the body's "yin" elements, such as connective tissue, ligaments, and joints. During this practice, traditional poses are held for longer periods, typically 4-6 minutes, to apply healthy stress and promote deep release. This type of yoga is beneficial for improving mobility and flexibility.
Energetically, Yin yoga is influenced by Traditional Chinese Medicine, as it works with the body's meridians to support a healthy flow of Chi energy.
Please note that this class is not suitable for pregnant individuals.
Beginners welcome.

A delicious balance of effort and ease, strength and softness, this flow encourages movement and focused holds, allowing the body and mind to unwind at the end of the day.
Expect slow, steady movements with space to breathe and soften. We’ll work through gentle, creative sequences, blending fluid transitions with longer, supported holds. Perfect for unwinding after a busy day, this class helps release physical tension, calms the mind, resets the nervous system, and prepares you for sleep.

Looking to relax and destress after a busy week? Join us on Friday and Sunday evenings for a 90-minute practice that combines Vinyasa and Yin styles. This class aims to help you release tension and feel more centered. All levels are welcome to join.

This pacy, dynamic Vinyasa has a set framework of Asanas that will make you sweat and find stillness in the most dynamic poses. It's fun and playful, encouraging you to push your capabilities with options for challenge or rest. It’s a great way to begin exploring balancing on heads, arms, or hands!
Larry Schultz, the creator of The Rocket yoga class, was one of the most inspirational teachers of his time. He had trained in classical Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga under Pattabhi Jois but became frustrated when he was not allowed to move on to the Second Series and practice poses other than the Primary Series. Larry broke away from the ordered system but took many of its elements with him in his practice, which became one of the main roots of Power Yoga.
The name "Rocket" comes from one of the guitar players from The Grateful Dead, Bob Wier. Larry was touring with the band and teaching them yoga classes. After one class, Bob asked Larry what the name of the sequence was, saying it was great. Larry didn't have a name for it, but Wier suggested he call it "The Rocket!" When Larry asked why, Wier said, "because it gets you there faster!!" And it stuck instantly. Larry joked he never knew where "there" was, but he would get there faster anyway.
As you practice it, remember to honor your body's limits and trust yourself to move appropriately for your body on any given day. Although it may get you there faster, make sure 'there' is not an injury but an undefinable destination of self-love and honouring your practice.

Yoga Glasgow FAQs
-
Yoga is an ancient practice of movement, breath, and awareness. Through postures (asana), breathwork (pranayama), and moments of stillness, it invites strength, mobility, focus, and a deeper connection to self.
Rooted in tradition and open to all, Yoga supports both body and mind -building resilience, clarity, and centered over time.
-
We recommend starting with beginner-friendly classes such as Yoga, Chill, and Yin. These Yoga classes will help you learn the basics and build confidence in your preferred yoga style. All our teachers welcome beginners, simply let them know upon entering the class. It’s best to avoid any intermediate classes and Vinyasa until you are ready.
-
No. Flexibility is a result of practising yoga, not a requirement. Yoga meets you where you are, and poses can always be modified to suit your body and ability.
-
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Stretchy tops and leggings or loose trousers are ideal.
-
We have studio mats you can borrow free of charge, but you are welcome to bring your own mat if you prefer. We also provide all props, including blocks, straps, bolsters, blankets, and eye masks, for you to use in the studio.
-
This depends on your lifestyle and goals. Even one or two classes per week can be beneficial. Consistent practice, rather than intensity, is key.
-
Yoga can be gentle or physically challenging, depending on the style and class. Some forms build significant strength and stamina, while others focus more on relaxation and mobility.
-
In many cases, yes, but it is important to inform the teacher before class. Our teachers can suggest modifications or advise which classes are most appropriate. If unsure, consult a healthcare professional.
-
Most of our classes last between 60 and 75 minutes.
-
It is best to practise yoga on a light stomach. Try to avoid heavy meals for at least two to three hours before class. A small snack is fine if needed.
